Sam Altman & Jony Ive Team Up To Destroy Apple, New OpenAI Hardware Devices On The Way!

AI News – May 21

Google releases two big development tools Sam Altman and Jony Ive team up with an announcement that shocks the World and Veo 3 takes generative video to a whole new level Here’s today’s AI news. At IO 2025 there were numerous announcements from Google regarding AI coding and development.

Two of the most notable announcements were ‘Stitch’ and ‘Jules’. Jules was somewhat leaked on Monday and we reported that Google was launching a coding tool that would go head to head with with OpenAI’s Codex that was launched last week. The second big tool to be announced was Stitch. Stitch is a generative AI tool that has been specifically designed to help create web or app user interfaces.

But it doesn’t just create the visuals, it also generates working code that can be exported and used immediately. Both of these tools received overwhelming interest after their announcements and Google was struggling to keep up with requests. They had to impose limits and restrictions on both tools while they scaled them up to meet the demand.

So it’s all about Google and no one is going to be able to steal the limelight from all of these amazing announcements, right? Wrong. Outside of Google IO there’s another IO that fewer people have heard of and that’s a company that was founded in 2024 by Jony Ive to focus on AI hardware devices.

Jony Ive has legendary status from his time at Apple and his product design input on all of their greatest hits. Now Jony Ive and his IO company are merging with OpenAI and they released a 10 minute video explaining the journey that they’ve been on that’s led to this moment. This is a huge announcement for OpenAI It indicates that they’re looking to become a company that’s about more than just software and compute.

They’re going to be creating state of the art hardware too. In the video, Jony explains that they will be working on a family of AI devices and it seems like this work has already been underway for some time. Sam Altman went on to explain, “Jony recently gave me one of the prototypes of the device to take home and I’ve been able to live with it and I think it is the coolest piece of technology that the world has ever seen.” The last couple of weeks may have been a little bit quiet in AI, but this week has been explosive.

This whole news cycle has probably left Apple in crisis mode. It could still get even more explosive. The week isn’t over yet and there are strong rumours that Claude 4 is imminent and don’t forget about Grok 3.5. And finally back to Google for a moment. Veo 3, their latest video model, has been churning out the most incredible videos in the past 48 hours.

Of course, we were expecting better physics and visuals, but the ability to generate sound to match the video is really game changing. Some of the best examples have been where hyper realistic broadcasts have been created from single prompts. This video is of a completely fictional car show where every character convincingly gets interviewed about their thoughts.

We’re way beyond deep fakes at this point. We’re into entirely fictional worlds.
