The crazy week of AI announcements continues with the huge news that claude 4 has been officially launched.
We reported yesterday that there were strong rumours of this being the case, and now it’s here. Claude 4 is available in two models, the standard Sonnet version and the state of the art Opus version. Both of these models demonstrate big improvements over Claude 3.7 in both math and coding.
And it’s agentic coding in particular, where anthropic seem to have focused. Anthropic claims that Claude 4 is the world’s best AI coding assistant, but that takes more than just the best benchmark scores to achieve, so we shall see. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas announced that task scheduling would be coming “super soon”.
He said that it would be available in all browsers, but that it would work best on their own upcoming browser ‘Comet’ Scheduling tasks that can be completed via your browser will unlock a lot of potential if the integration can be made to feel slick and seamless. And finally, the robots are warming up and honing their skills for the upcoming Mech Combat Arena competition that kicks off this Sunday.
Okay, so the skills aren’t looking that tight at the moment, but it’s early days for these fighters and perhaps they just don’t want to show off their full arsenal of weapons until the big day.
