Summary Report

Claude designed 17 lab-confirmed binders against scorpion neurotoxins, an early step toward new antivenoms.

  • 01. 318,000+ designs in 64 hours with four human check-ins
  • 02. 17 of 211 lab-tested binders bound; best at single-digit nanomolar affinity
Scorpions sting around 1.2 million people a year, and antivenoms are often expensive or scarce. Working largely on its own for 64 hours in Claude Science with four human check-ins, Claude generated more than 318,000 protein designs against five scorpion neurotoxins. Of 211 tested in the lab, 17 bound their targets, the best with single-digit nanomolar affinity. They were tested against lab-made toxins rather than venom, and neutralisation in animals hasn't been shown yet.
