Perplexity Gives You Deep Research For Free! Gemini Gets A Memory. Make Some Pikamemes!

AI News for February 14

Perplexity has launched its own deep research tool in direct competition to OpenAI. It’s already available to many users and it’s been achieving some amazing benchmark scores. It achieved a score of 21.1% on humanity’s last exam, which is pretty much on par with OpenAI’s deep research tool.

So not much between them in benchmarks, but there’s a little bit of difference between them in price. To access the OpenAI deep research tool, you’ll need a $200 subscription. Perplexity will give you five queries a day for free. Wow, the AI wars really are in full swing.

Google is giving Gemini a long term memory rolling out right now. You can use Gemini Advanced to have an ongoing conversation. Gemini will keep previous conversations and topics in its memory and use them to craft the most appropriate responses to any new requests. Pika Labs have released yet another great new tool.

This one is called pikamemes. You can take a selfie and then use it to generate personalised GIFs for any situation. It’s available now on the iOS app and it’s another great example of how Pika is crafting tools with specific purposes, resulting in better outputs.
