Gemini Notebook can record an hour of live audio on your phone, XREAL ships the first wired glasses running Android XR, and Simulon lets digital characters see and hear you in real footage. Here's today's AI news. Google has released Gemini 4 Carbon, its next frontier model, just two weeks after Argon. It now tops the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at 59, ahead of Opus 5.5 at 58 and GPT-6 Astra at 57, and nine points up on Argon. Its biggest lead is in cybersecurity, with 88 percent on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities and 71 percent on CWE-bench for patching them. On Google's own table it beats Opus 5.5 on most benchmarks, though Opus still wins on OSWorld computer use and Artificial Analysis's coding agent index. One catch: its hallucination rate rose from 4 percent to 11. Like Argon, it's going to trusted cyber defenders first, at an introductory 2 dollars in and 10 out per million tokens, half the price of Opus. Google's NotebookLM, now called Gemini Notebook, can record live audio on your phone. Hit record in the mobile app and capture up to an hour of a lecture, a meeting or your own thinking out loud, and it becomes a source in your notebook, ready to summarise, quiz you on or turn into an audio overview. It keeps recording in the background and with the phone locked, and Google suggests pairing recordings with photos of your handwritten notes. The app keeps the transcript, not the original audio. It's rolling out now on Android and iOS. The first wired glasses running Android XR are here. XREAL AURA weighs under 95 grams, with the processing and battery in a pocket-sized compute puck on a cable. You get a 70-degree field of view through transparent lenses, Sony micro-OLED displays, and Gemini built in, so the glasses understand what you're looking at and can give you hands-free help. You can turn your laptop into multiple virtual monitors, watch films on a giant screen or run millions of Google Play apps. Launch pricing starts at 1,099 dollars, with shipping from mid-November. Simulon has launched Reality-Aware Rendering, which lets you put things that aren't there into real footage. Place a neural asset in the world with your iPhone, then act out the scene. When you stop recording, Simulon re-renders the whole take, reading what you do, what you say and the space around you, so the asset reacts to you. The final is a new performance of the scene, not a copy of the footage. Simulon's demo, a caveman wandering through real locations, was made in an afternoon. It's live on iPhone now, with Android coming soon.
