  • 04. HackerTube: Claude filtered 43M HN comments to 6,454 videos; built in about two hours with Opus 5.5
  • 05. Wanaka Studio 1.0: AI-native engine for 3D multiplayer games; claims 5x faster than Opus 5.5 plus Unity at 82% lower agent cost
Today's AI news: MIT CSAIL researchers had GPT-6 Astra edit 0.016% of Qwen3.5-0.8B's weights directly, lifting MATH-500 from 7.9% to 48.1% without training. ChatGPT Voice now works with Finances, so you can talk through your spending and savings. Claude plugins can auto-connect at login via MCP servers that accept Claude as a trusted issuer. Andrej Karpathy built HackerTube, filtering 43M Hacker News comments down to 6,454 recommended videos with Claude. And Wanaka launched Studio 1.0, an AI-native game engine for 3D multiplayer games. ChatGPT will now talk to you about your money, Claude plugins connect themselves when you log in, Andrej Karpathy rebuilds YouTube from Hacker News comments, and there's a new game engine built for AI agents. Here's today's AI news. Researchers at MIT CSAIL asked GPT-6 Astra to make a small open model better at maths, without any training. Astra looked at the raw weights of Qwen 3.5, the 0.8 billion parameter version, and spotted a flaw that made it get stuck in reasoning loops. Then it edited the weights directly, changing just 0.016% of them. On the MATH-500 benchmark, the score went from 7.9% to 48.1%, and instruction following improved about three times over. The team calls it weight-space programming, and says Astra could also tell what a network had been trained to do just by reading its weights. It's an early result that hasn't been peer reviewed, though one outside tester reports a similar gain. AI models editing other AI models. This is guaranteed to end well. ChatGPT Voice now works with Finances. That's the part of ChatGPT where you securely connect your bank and investment accounts, so it can see your balances, transactions and spending. Now you can talk it through out loud, asking where your money went this month, or how to save for something. OpenAI says ChatGPT can't see full account numbers or make changes to your accounts, and if you disconnect, the synced data is removed within 30 days. Finances is US-only for now. So you can finally have an awkward conversation about your spending without involving another human. Claude plugins can now connect themselves when you log in. Until now, each plugin needed its own sign-in. Now, if a plugin's server accepts Claude as a trusted issuer, Claude vouches for the signed-in user and the connection just happens. It's in beta for Team and Enterprise plans, with 14 launch partners including Atlassian, Figma, Notion, Linear and HubSpot. Anthropic is asking plugin developers to add support, so users get started faster and stay connected without signing in again. One fewer login screen, which in enterprise software counts as a miracle. Andrej Karpathy got annoyed with YouTube's recommendations, so he built his own. HackerTube uses Claude to filter 43 million Hacker News comments, from twenty years of the site, down to 6,454 videos people keep recommending. There's no login, thumbnails are a frame from the middle of the video rather than the usual clickbait, and the underlying data is a single download you can point your own Claude at. He says it took about two hours with Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, which also deployed and secured the server. His only manual jobs were an API key, a server and a domain name. Wanaka has launched Studio 1.0, an AI-native game engine for building 3D multiplayer games without code. Instead of making AI fight with Unity, the team built an engine an agent can actually use, with 3D models, rigging, gameplay logic and sound in one workspace. Wanaka claims it's five times faster than Opus 5.5 working with Unity, at 82% lower agent cost, though that's its own benchmark. You can edit the scene directly and the agent picks up from your changes, and every finished game publishes as a link, with nothing to install.
